Top Dating Tips for Seniors

It goes without saying that seniors have faced a lot of challenges and changes in our lives. From working to raising a family to dealing with the usual ups and downs of life, we’ve been there and done that. When it comes to dating, particularly if you’ve been out of the singles scene for years, even decades, the prospect of meeting someone new may seem daunting, particularly in a world when the rules of the dating game have changed.

Here are some tips to getting you back in the game:

1. No Excuses

Don’t keep yourself from finding new love in your older years by telling yourself that you’re too senior or too out-of-date to go out and meet new people. You may not be the same man or woman you were in your 20s, but that doesn’t mean your should not consider getting out there and meeting someone who makes you happy.

2. Remember the Old Times

Staying positive about the whole experience of dating is key. If you were able to go out before in your younger years and score some worthwhile relationships, the same can happen again. Get out of the house and go out with friends and contemporaries and let them know you’re up for meeting new people. Where to go to meet senior singles? The local community center, your grandkid’s recital, a charity event, the church or temple, a dance school or book club are all good places to meet and mingle with new people and prospects. And what about online dating, it’s a great way for silver surfers to break the ice these days.

3. Dating is Fun

Don’t take dating, even online dating on sites like eHarmony UK, too seriously. Relax and remember it’s all about being yourself, having fun, exploring your options and staying true to yourself. You’ve come a long way since you were a doe-eyed teenager going on his or her first date to the youth club black singles night or whatever it was . Let your experience and the confidence that comes with it shine through your personality. And if you do get nervous, remember it’s part of the process. You’ll get more comfortable with the idea of dating the more you do it.

4. Talk to your Family

You don’t have to answer to them, you don’t even have to tell them but if you are not letting on or your family isn’t keen on you dating then you are not likely to be 100% happy. So talk to them. Explain your reasons for wanting to venture out and meet someone new. Listen to their feelings as well and try to understand why they might be upset. Your adult children may find it hard to get used to the idea of you dating someone new but they can still come round to it. Time eases the pain of most changes.

Diamond Rings – The Timeless Gift and Always Appropriate

When you hear the word ‘diamond’, this immediately conjures images of engagements and weddings. If there is an upcoming event in the life of someone you love, the timeless elegance of diamonds can be just the gift for the occasion. In a society where gift cards and cash have become the staple gift, it is time to make yours stand out among the rest. Show the person you love how special they are with a new diamond ring. Here is a list of occasions where diamond rings can make a lasting impact that will be remembered for years to come.

Anniversaries:

These brilliantly cut stones are not just for the day you are wed. Diamond rings convey love in the purest form. Why not consider a diamond ring in the form of an anniversary band to mark an anniversary milestone? Often, after years have passed, a man is more financially stable, and in a position to provide this type of gift.

Birthdays

Gracing the woman or man in your life with jewelry can make the next birthday, one to be remembered. Diamond fashion rings are available in all price ranges, designs, and color of gold. These rings can be created from one beautiful diamond set on a white or yellow gold setting, or you can choose a combination of diamonds and other precious stones.

Graduations

High school and college graduations come along only once in a student’s life. Graduates usually receive plenty of cash during graduation parties and events. Some other traditional gifts include items for a new apartment or career, inspirational books, or clothing. Although these items certainly have their place, think about the fact that a diamond ring given at graduation will mark that occasion and leave a legacy to the person who provided the gift. Long after the college dorm or first apartment are left behind, a graduate will have a beautiful piece of jewelry to commemorate that time in their life. Diamond rings are gifts that will be treasured for a lifetime.

A New Addition to the Family or Mother’s Day

Skip the stuffed animals, flowers, chocolates and gift cards. Welcoming a new baby or celebrating Mother’s Day is the perfect time to invest in diamonds. Diamond rings can be designed with a certain number of stones to represent the family members, or a main diamond can be accented with side stones to represent the children. With a little bit of creativity and thought, diamond rings can be turned into cherished memories.

The Big Promotion

Maybe your husband or wife has been waiting to make partner in the law firm. Perhaps he or she has been working long hours in an effort to secure that corporate position. Although a celebratory dinner is a nice way to celebrate promotion day, just think about the impact a specially chosen ring would make. Mark the event and celebrate with the beauty of diamonds.

A Romantic Anniversary or Just Because

Whether you are celebrating your wedding anniversary or simply saying “I love you”, diamond rings are never the wrong choice. From their inception, diamond rings have expressed the overwhelming love you have for the special people in your life. An individual often forgets the gift card or flowers they received as a gift, but they will never forget the event, the time, or the person who felt they were special enough to give them the gift of diamonds.

Do You Love Me or Just Like Me?

Love comes from your Soul. Like comes from your head (EGO) and they don’t always agree.

I love many people, but don’t necessarily like everything they do.

But I wonder if this is a cop-out? I mean really, if we get so separated between what we say we love and what we say we like and dislike aren’t we becoming dangerously separated from reality?

So, in Nature’s Laws there’s a recognition of hierarchy. There’s high thinking, high emotion, high states of motivation, and there’s low. Key to this hierarchy is recognition that the low stats of thinking, emotion and motivation get the same result on paper and the high ones.

Consider it like a piano keyboard. You can play a song with the low notes, you can play a song in a high octave with high notes, but the cool music we love, usually has a blend of both. So, there are some people stuck in the high notes who can’t make logical choices, and there are some stuck in the low notes just gunning for a fight at every corner. So, the question is: How do we bring these seeming opposing ends of the spectrum Love and Like together?

Let’s begin with the fact that the SOUL can only love. It doesn’t choose, prefer, like, dislike, want, need, desire, should, comply, conform, speak, agree, disagree. The Soul can only love and the only limits to how much of that love you can experience, witness and feel, is the degree to which your likes and dislikes block it.

On the other hand, your EGO, mind or religious beliefs, ideas and values can never love. They can only like and dislike. So, we have a problem Houston…. Our identity is built from the stuff that limits the stuff that we want most of. We want a lot of LOVE yet, we’re attached to a lot of beliefs… in fact, without the beliefs, values, religious ideals, likes and dislikes we won’t survive a day in the real, competitive world of business, family, resources, providing and caring.

Do you have to make a choice of one or the other?

In a sense yes, Because every moment of every day you make choices. Which bus to catch, what to wear, which coffee to drink and what exercise to do. We make those choices based on EGO.

However, there is a simple answer to all this hocus-pocus.

The higher up the hierarchy you go, the more you integrate what you like and dislike with what you do and think and feel. In other words to rise us the hierarchy and live more from love and soul than from ego and mind, you need to overcome the EGO’s grip on your likes and dislikes.

At the bottom of the hierarchy, your likes and dislikes are black and white. In other words people call it “Love and Hate” but they really mean “Infatuated (mistaken for love at lower levels) and Resentment (defined clearly in the world as Hate). And it’s this bottom end fight flight response to the world that causes: stress, violence, anger, hate, war, jealousy and greed – many of which are considered cultural norms in some families. Have you ever heard a parent scream at a child “Make up your Mind?” That’s the low end of the hierarchy breeding in the family culture.

Bottom of the hierarchy people hang out with top of the hierarchy people. But they rarely see eye to eye nor do they want to. But a person who can play the whole keyboard from top to bottom can at least have compassion for the energy wasted at the bottom.

Love is the most energy conserving state. THat’s why it attracts people as they become more mature. They have less energy to burn. Love, on the other hand, for a young person really is not about energy conservation or anything much more than extreme like (infatuation) and the heartbreak of inevitable resentment.

Simply, we can’t live in harmony with the outer world until we can live in harmony with the inner world and that harmony, inner wealth, comes in the form of alignment between LOVE and LIKE. Love can’t shift, but the EGO with its likes and dislikes can become more moderated. Accepting and, as the Buddha suggested, walking the middle path which, in spite of much misinterpretation of conservation, means to not be so radical in sticking to what you like and dislike.

Simply, you can do this EGO confronting step by looking for the two sides in everything.

What Attracts Men and Keeps Them Interested?

There are many women who do not know what attracts men. Therefore, they end up losing the interest of those males they have their eyes on. Attracting a guy requires knowledge and experience. Here are tips that you can use to captivate your dream guy and make him come to you and be your partner.

Men are fascinated with confident women. They find it sexy when a woman has a strong personality, has plans for her future, and is highly motivated. To be confident, you must learn to accept and love yourself. You must be goal-driven. Never be shy or fearful because this can be a big turn-off for guys.

The act of flirting has proved to be very effective in winning a man’s attention. There are women who know how to flirt by nature while there are those who have acquired the art through experience. Flirting involves verbal communication and body actions. It uses meaningful words, slight physical touches, evocative looks and a playful smile. It involves openness and friendliness.

Because they are visual human beings, what attracts men first are a woman’s physical appearance. This means you have to look good with the right make-up and attractive clothes. Wear outfits that look good on you and flatter your whole body. Find what works for your body and not clothes that work for someone else. What looks good on others may not look good on you. With the perfect outfit, wear a perfume with a fragrant smell to work on your guy’s senses. This will make him remember you always.

Do not be the type of woman who is so pessimistic around people. When you are in the company of men, be positive and jolly, as this will make them enjoy your presence. If you pour all your problems on them, your negativity will bring them down and they will not want to be with you again. By nature, people do not like to listen to other people’s problems as they have their own share too.

Lastly, be a mysterious woman. Do not give all information away. Always leave an air of mystery. Men are challenged with the unknown so keep their interest by not revealing everything about yourself. Give information one at a time. You can give your whole life story when you become committed to one another and he asks for all the details about you.

Men are quite easy to entice with the right attitude. What attracts men is a personality that is confident, attractive, happy, optimistic and exciting.
